Identification
- Wings are short (do not reach the end of the abdomen) and almost completely absent in the female
- Shiny dark brown to black
- 1-1.25 inches
Environment
- Prefers cool, moist habitats
- Commonly found in extremely filthy areas around sewers, dumpsters, or other types of organic refuse
Threats
- Not common in homes
- May move indoors during colder months seeking warmer temperatures and foodthrough openings in the foundation
Treatment
- Granular bait applications to exterior perimeter
- Gel baits in or around drains and in basements
