You may encounter silverfish when you are moving in or out of a home.
Identification
- Slender in size about 1/2 inch
- 2 long antennae on the head and 3 long cerci at the rear
Environment
- Fast moving insects
- Generally associated with paper or cardboard
- Usually found when books and other materials are packed up for moving
- Eat glue from the binding of books and within the corrugation of cardboard
- Reproduce in or near moist, damp areas such as a basement or in proximity to a bathroom or shower
- Females lay up to 3 eggs per day
- Populations grow quickly and consist of many immature nymphs
- Prefer damp, musty areas
Threats

Treatment
- Dusts within wall voids and likely breeding sites
