Identification
- Small squirrels, tan and brown in color with dark and light stripes
- Attracts attention by making a continuous series of high-pitched chirps with its tail flipping from side to side
Environment
- Active during the day and sleep in their underground burrows that they will create in your yard
- Spends much of its time hunting for food
Threats
- Homes with gardens, flowers, bird feeders, pet food, or nut trees are likely targets for chipmunks
- Infestation can occur rapidly
- Can damage electrical and cable lines and AC pipes
Treatment
- Live cage traps will maintain population but they are difficult to contol
