Celebrating Teammate Acts of Kindness Day: Our Second Annual Celebration Across the Southeast

Celebrating Teammate Acts of Kindness Day: Our Second Annual Celebration Across the Southeast

At Northwest, we believe in the power of kindness and its impact on our communities. This year, we proudly celebrated our second annual Teammate Acts of Kindness Day, where our teams across the Southeast came together to spread goodwill and make a difference in the lives of others. Our initiatives were diverse, thoughtful, and heartwarming and resulted in completing over 1,700+ Acts of Kindness in one day!

In our Smyrna office, teammates brought in beautiful flowers, delicious cookies, and thoughtful goodie bags to share with one another. The atmosphere was filled with joy and appreciation as we celebrated the small gestures that can brighten someone’s day. Our Homewood team also participated enthusiastically, bringing each other goodie bags filled with snacks and treats.

Beyond the office, our teams went above and beyond for our customers. Teammates engaged in acts such as bringing trash cans up for customers, fixing mailboxes, and watering plants. The East Cobb team bought pizzas for the surrounding Service Centers, spreading cheer and goodwill among our extended team. In Opelika, a teammate helped push someone’s car to the nearest gas station, while in Monroe, someone assisted in jumping a customer’s car. These thoughtful gestures demonstrated our commitment to extending kindness beyond our immediate team, touching the lives of our customers and showing them that we truly care about their well-being.

Teammate Acts of Kindness Day is more than just a day of good deeds; it’s a testament to our commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment both within our team and in the communities we serve. We are proud of the initiatives our teammates undertook and look forward to continuing this tradition of kindness and community spirit in the years to come.

Our Miami Gardens team proudly participated in the GiGi’s Playhouse Acceptance Challenge, an initiative raising awareness and fostering acceptance for individuals with Down syndrome. This event reflects our commitment to community support and inclusivity.

At the event, our team hosted an impromptu coffee takeover with JC Beans Cafe, a mobile specialty coffee shop, adding an extra boost of energy and camaraderie to the day. It was a wonderful way to bring everyone together and show our support for this important cause.

GiGi’s Playhouse empowers individuals with Down syndrome through research-based programs enhancing literacy, math, motor skills, and self-esteem, all provided free of charge. They also offer vital resources for families and communities, promoting a supportive environment. We were inspired by the dedication of everyone involved and are proud to support GiGi’s Playhouse in their mission to create a more inclusive society.

Empowering Families in Crisis: Northwest’s Involvement in the HomeAid Essentials Drive

Empowering Families in Crisis: Northwest’s Involvement in the HomeAid Essentials Drive

In a gesture of compassion and solidarity, our team recently participated in the 23rd Annual HomeAid Essentials Drive, a pivotal event aimed at supporting families grappling with homelessness in metro Atlanta. Understanding the critical needs of these vulnerable families, particularly women and children, we rallied together to collect and donate essential baby supplies such as diapers, wipes, and other necessities.

The significance of these donations cannot be overstated, especially considering that an estimated 4,770 individuals experience homelessness in metro Atlanta on any given night, with nearly 35% being women and children. For families facing economic hardship, the cost of diapers alone can pose a substantial burden, with babies requiring up to 12 diapers a day. By participating in the Essentials Drive, we sought to alleviate some of the stress and challenges faced by these families during times of crisis and transition.

Through the collective efforts of the metro Atlanta home building industry and generous community members, the Essentials Drive has amassed over 2.1 million baby items since its inception in 2002, providing invaluable support to countless families in need. We are honored to have been a part of this impactful initiative, contributing to the well-being and dignity of families in our community and reaffirming our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those facing adversity.

Northwest Exterminating Macon Office Participates in Local Habitat for Humanity Annual Women’s Build

The Macon office recently participated in the Macon Area Women’s Build, which was graciously organized by our Macon Office Manager. This initiative brought together 12 dedicated volunteers from Region 4, including the Good Deed Team Ambassadors, to spend a day making a difference at a local house in Macon. From cutting and nailing trim to hanging doors and painting, our team poured their hearts and skills into improving the lives of others. It was truly a fulfilling experience, working side by side for such a noble cause.

Macon Habitat for Humanity has been making a profound impact since its inception in 1986, completing its first house by 1987. Over the years, through unwavering collaboration with the Macon community, they have served over 120 families, providing them with safe and decent housing. Their dedication to building not just houses, but homes, resonates deeply with our team’s values of community and compassion.

This year’s Women’s Build marked the event’s 20th anniversary, drawing together 11 groups and nearly 200 volunteers throughout the month-long event in March. Corporate teams of women and men from various industries joined forces with their local Habitat affiliates, including Macon Habitat for Humanity, to sponsor, build, and dedicate homes. It’s inspiring to see the collective effort and commitment to empowering families and strengthening communities through homeownership. We are proud to have been a part of this incredible milestone and look forward to continuing our support for such impactful initiatives.

Buford Service Center Partners with Housing Authority for Easter Egg Hunt

The spirit of service was alive in Buford as the Northwest Exterminating office rallied together to contribute to the Housing Authority’s annual Easter egg hunt. Four dedicated team members took time out of their schedules to make a meaningful impact and spent the day ensuring everything ran smoothly – from placing eggs strategically to distributing baskets and assisting with food and drinks for the residents.

Reflecting on our involvement, it’s evident how Service Standard #11 (Servant’s Heart) resonates with our team. We take pride in going above and beyond to support our local community in Buford. Contributing to events like the Easter egg hunt allows us to not only fulfill our duty as responsible citizens but also to make a tangible difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Participating in events like this reinforces our belief in the power of community and collective action. The smiles on the children’s faces and the gratitude expressed by residents reaffirm that our efforts are worthwhile. Our team looks forward to continuing to serve and support our community!

Northwest Teammates Across Southeast Donate 90 Easter Baskets to Savannah Children’s Hospital

As we mark our fifth consecutive year of spearheading the Easter Basket Donation Drive for the Willett Children’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, we couldn’t be prouder of our team’s collective effort. Since the beginning, our yearly goal of collecting 75 Easter Baskets has consistently been surpassed, and this year was no exception. With overwhelming support, we completed a remarkable tally of 90 Easter baskets, along with 6 Nurse baskets, and over 500 Easter eggs, bringing joy to the hospital’s staff, patients, and families.

Since our inaugural drive in 2020, our commitment to making holidays special for those at the Willett Children’s Hospital has only grown stronger. Building on the success of previous years, our collaboration with the Family Life Coordinator, and the enthusiastic participation of Northwest branches across the southeast, have become integral to the annual Easter basket event. This milestone year is a testament to the enduring dedication of our team and the profound impact of community support.

The Memorial Health Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah stands as a beacon of hope for families across Southeast Georgia and South Carolina. Inaugurating their new facility in 2021 was a significant milestone, reflecting their unwavering commitment to providing specialized care tailored to children’s needs. As we continue our partnership with the hospital, we look forward to many more years of spreading joy and making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Northwest Exterminating’s Fort Myers Team Provides Meals Through Ronald McDonald House

In January, our team in Fort Myers came together with a shared mission: to bring comfort and support to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. On the 9th, we hosted a delightful taco bar dinner, filled with laughter as we prepared a delicious spread. The evening was a heartwarming reminder of the power of community and compassion.

Good Deed Team Ft. Myers

Continuing our efforts just two days later, we organized a breakfast-for-dinner feast, where bacon stole the show, thanks to the skills of our teammate, Kyle C. These simple acts of kindness may seem small, but they make a world of difference to those in need. We’re immensely grateful for the opportunity to support the Ronald McDonald House and the incredible work they do in providing a home away from home for families with sick children.

As we look back on our recent endeavors, we’re filled with gratitude for our volunteers and their unwavering dedication. The Northwest family plans to extend our support to Ronald McDonald Houses across Florida and the Southeast. We’re committed to making a meaningful impact, one meal at a time.

Northwest Exterminating Cullman Team’s Generosity on Random Acts of Kindness Day

On Random Acts of Kindness Day, our team in Cullman came together to make a meaningful impact on their community. Inspired by the spirit of giving, they embarked on a mission to support Curt’s Closet, a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing clothing, shoes, and essential items to children and families in need. The team collected 12 bags filled with clothing and shoes to contribute to their noble cause.

Curt’s Closet serves as a beacon of hope for children and families facing difficult circumstances in our community. By providing them with basic necessities free of charge, they alleviate the burden of financial strain and offer a sense of dignity and warmth during challenging times. Our team recognized the importance of their mission and felt compelled to lend a helping hand on this special day of kindness.

As we delivered our donations to Curt’s Closet, we were met with gratitude and appreciation from the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to serve those in need. Knowing that our contributions would directly benefit children and families in our own community filled us with a sense of fulfillment and purpose. On Random Acts of Kindness Day , we were reminded of the profound impact that small acts of generosity can have and the power of coming together to make a difference in the lives of others. Our team can’t wait until the next initiative!

Northwest Exterminating Celebrates Random Acts of Kindness Day Across Five States

Northwest Exterminating Celebrates Random Acts of Kindness Day Across Five States

To celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day, our teams across the southeast took it upon themselves to give back to their local communities in big, small, and impactful ways. Let’s see what out teams were able to tackle this day:

Dallas Service Center

Dallas Random Acts of Kindness Day
The Office Professionals in our Dallas office donated 4 bags full of clothing and shoes to the local St. Vincent de Paul ministry. Earlier in the week, they mailed Valentine’s Day cards to all the Office Admins in their region!

Alpharetta Service Center

During a normal stop on his route, a technician took the time to pick up trash around a customer’s property . He noticed that the newspapers were still at the end of the driveway, so he brought them to the front door and picked up a plant that had fallen over on the porch.

Homewood Service Center

One of our teammates noticed a package at the end of a steep driveway and took the extra steps to bring it to the customer. It turned out that the customer was unable to retrieve the package and was grateful for the extra help!

Lanier Service Center

Multiple teammates took it upon themselves to give $15 Starbucks gift cards to some of their customers during their normal routes. The customers were so grateful for the continued service and an extra cup of coffee!

Team Support Center

Wanting to ensure that our teammates across the southeast felt appreciated, our Team Support Center took the time to put together care baskets filled with Thank You cards and different types of snacks!

Cullman Service Center

Cullman Random Acts of Kindness Day
The team collected and donated food for the local food pantry. They partnered with Liberty Church in Holly Pond, AL, where one of our technicians is the pastor. In a separate initiative, one of our teammates put together treat bags for each person in the office!

Canton Service Center

Canton Random Acts of Kindness Day
The Good Deed Team in Canton decided to bring lunch to a local fire station to show their appreciation. We’re grateful for the continued support of our local first responders!

South Florida Team

The Sales team wrote Thank You cards for their teammates and customers. Our team is grateful for the continued support from everyone in the local area.

There were many more moments of kindness during the day, and we’re grateful that our teams completed so many Acts of Kindness in just one day.  We can’t wait to see what else our teammates across all of our service centers accomplish in their communities in 2024!
