Last week, our Cullman team had the privilege of celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week at West Point High School. It was a joy to come together and host a lunch for the incredible educators who work tirelessly to nurture and inspire young minds every single day. The school community’s warmth made the event even more special, and we were honored to contribute in a small way to show our gratitude.
As part of the festivities, there were plenty of smiles, great conversations, and a little extra fun thanks to a visit from “The Mouse.” Watching teachers smile and laugh was a reminder of the positivity and dedication they bring to their work, even amidst challenges. These moments underscored the importance of showing our appreciation for the people shaping the future, one student at a time.
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to say thank you to the incredible educators at West Point High School and beyond. Your hard work, patience, and commitment make a difference in ways words can’t fully capture. We’re grateful to have had the chance to celebrate everything you do and hope the lunch and The Mouse’s surprise visit brought a little extra brightness to your week.

This past March, our Macon team rolled up their sleeves and joined an incredible group of volunteers for the Macon Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build. The week-long event brought the community together for a shared mission—to make a lasting difference by helping finish homes on Dorothy Avenue. It was more than just teamwork; it was a powerful reminder of how much can be achieved when people come together with a common purpose.
We couldn’t be more proud to see our Macon team extending a helping hand during this impactful week. From hammering nails to adding the final touches, their dedication helped bring these homes one step closer to reality for families in need. The Women’s Build is a shining example of neighbors supporting one another, and we’re glad to have contributed to this meaningful initiative that exemplifies compassion and effort.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Macon Habitat for Humanity for organizing such an empowering event and to all the volunteers who shared their time and talents to build something lasting. Seeing our community unite for this cause was truly inspiring, and we’re grateful to have been part of it. Together, we’ve helped create not just houses, but homes that symbolize strength, hope, and a brighter future. We look forward to continuing to support initiatives like these that uplift our community and its families.

Drywood termites may be small, but their impact on Tennessee homes can be massive. These pests burrow deep into wood, causing hidden structural damage that weakens your property and reduces its market value. Left unchecked, they can lead to costly repairs, hurt resale prospects, and threaten your home’s health. Here’s how to protect your investment.
Why Drywood Termites Are a Problem
Unlike subterranean termites, drywood termites don’t need soil to survive. They infiltrate timber in walls, floors, and furniture, often going undetected until damage is severe. The long-term consequences include:
- Structural Damage: Compromised beams and joists create hazards.
- Lowered Value: Homes with damage or infestation histories struggle during appraisals and sales.
- High Costs: Repairs and treatment expenses can skyrocket if infestations are ignored.
Top Signs of A Drywood Termite Infestation
Detecting drywood termites early can save you thousands. Watch for:
- Hollow Wood: Tapping reveals empty interiors.
- Droppings: Pellet-shaped frass near affected areas.
- Discarded Wings: Swarmers shed these near doors or windows.
- Pinholes and Cracks: Small holes or warped wood indicate hidden damage.
How to Protect Your Home From Drywood Termites
Preventative measures are your best defense. Follow these steps:
- Inspect Regularly: Check wood for damage, especially in attics and furniture.
- Seal Gaps: Close cracks in wood, windows, and vents where termites enter.
- Control Moisture: Use dehumidifiers and fix leaks to reduce humidity.
- Opt for Treated Materials: Renovations with termite-resistant wood protect your home.
Eco-Friendly Termite Control
For a greener solution to infestations, try:
- Boric Acid or Orange Oil: Natural, effective treatment options.
- Green Pest Control Services: Professional treatments that prioritize well-being and sustainability.
Protect Now, Save Later
Don’t underestimate the cost of inaction. Drywood termites threaten your Tennessee home’s value and overall health. Act early to spot infestations, prevent damage, and keep your property market ready. Consult pest control professionals to ensure your home remains a secure and termite-free investment.

Summers in Bonita Springs bring warmth and outdoor fun, but they also invite summer pests like ants, mosquitoes, and rodents. Thankfully, you can manage these visitors using natural approaches that prioritize both your home and the environment. Follow these eco-friendly tips to enjoy a pest-free summer.
Summer Pests and How To Prevent Them
1. Natural Solutions for Ants
Ants are persistent, but reducing their appeal to your home is effective.
- Seal Entry Points: Check windows, doors, and cracks in walls, and close gaps with caulk or weatherstripping.
- Essential Oils: Ants avoid strong scents like peppermint, tea tree, and citrus. A mix of these oils and water, sprayed on trails, works as a deterrent.
- Tidy Food Storage: Keep counters crumb-free and store food in sealed containers.
Planting mint or tansy near your home can also help discourage ants.
2. Keep Mosquitoes in Check Naturally
Mosquitoes thrive in humid summers, but you can reduce their activity.
- Remove Standing Water: Mosquitoes lay eggs in still water, so empty outdoor items like flowerpots and gutters weekly.
- Repellent Plants: Incorporate citronella, lavender, basil, and marigolds into your garden to reduce mosquito presence.
- In2Care Mosquito Traps: These eco-friendly traps help target mosquito larvae and prevent future infestations. In2Care mosquito traps offer a proactive solution for your yard.
- Fans and Screens: Use fans on patios and keep window screens in good condition to limit mosquitoes indoors and outdoors.
- Natural citronella candles or herbal incense can also enhance your outdoor gatherings by discouraging mosquitoes.
3. Sustainable Solutions for Rodents
Rodents look for food, water, and shelter during summer. Prevent their entry with these steps:
- Seal Gaps: Cover openings around pipes, vents, and foundations with steel wool or hardware cloth.
- Natural Deterrents: Scatter cloves or cayenne near potential entry points to create a scent barrier.
- Yard Maintenance: Trim bushes and branches touching your home to limit access points and hiding spots.
- Composting organic waste is eco-friendly but keep the pile away from your house to avoid drawing rodents closer.
4. Support a Balanced Ecosystem
Nature offers its own solutions for pests through natural predators.
- Welcome Helpful Creatures: Birds and bats feed on mosquitoes and insects. Add birdhouses or bat boxes to support this natural balance.
- Use Cedar Mulch: Cedar’s natural properties discourage pests from garden beds without affecting beneficial insects.
- Water Wisely: Overwatering can create damp areas that attract pests. Fix leaks and avoid excess irrigation.
A thriving ecosystem can help keep pest populations in check while enhancing the beauty of your yard.
5. Prioritize Cleanliness
A clean home offers fewer opportunities for pests to linger.
- Declutter Storage Areas: Well-organized basements and garages limit hiding spaces. Opt for plastic bins instead of cardboard.
- Secure Garbage: Use bins with tight lids and take out trash regularly to avoid attracting scavengers.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Sweep crumbs, mop floors, and avoid leaving dishes in the sink overnight.

Eco-friendly pest prevention protects your home while nurturing the environment.
