Northwest Exterminating and Rollins Inc. Team Up to Support Barrow County Students with Backpack Drive

Northwest Exterminating and Rollins Inc. Team Up to Support Barrow County Students with Backpack Drive

More than 70 passionate teammates from Northwest Exterminating and Rollins Inc. came together to pack 500 backpacks for students at Apalachee High School. What’s even more remarkable is they accomplished this task within 30 minutes.

On Tuesday, July 22, Rollins Inc. transformed into a bustling hub for giving. Music played, teammates sang, and laughter filled the space as determined teammates filled hundreds of backpacks with school supplies.

Northwest Exterminating’s commitment to community service was on full display as teammates partnered with Rollins Gives, the philanthropic arm of Rollins Inc., to host the event. Northwest’s Good Deed Team Co-Director, Kristen Milligan, assisted in organizing the effort alongside Rollins Corporate Philanthropy Coordinator Chandler Taylor. Together, they created an assembly line workflow that maximized speed and efficiency, allowing volunteers to make a meaningful impact.

Nearly a dozen Northwest teammates arrived early to unpack supplies and organize workstations, while a steady stream of Rollins teammates joined in throughout the afternoon.

Once the backpacks were filled, teammates jumped into phase two: preparing the donations for delivery. Everyone pitched in to help assemble boxes and transport them to the loading dock. That’s when the downpour of rain began, but that didn’t dampen the team’s determination. Teammates successfully loaded the vehicle bound for Barrow County.

Northwest teammates delivered the backpacks on Friday July 25, just in time for the Barrow County School District’s Back to Bold event, a community initiative that provides students with school supplies, clothing, and even haircuts, thanks to support from local churches, civic groups and businesses.

For Apalachee High School, this support holds extra meaning. In 2024, the school community experienced an unthinkable tragedy when a school shooting claimed the lives of two teachers and two students. This year’s donations are more than just supplies—they are a reminder to students and staff that they are supported, seen, and never alone.

Rollins Gives continues to foster a culture of service and compassion, hosting at least one volunteer opportunity each quarter with a focus on Science & Education and Health & Wellness. The partnership between Northwest Exterminating’s Good Deed Team and Rollins Gives is a powerful testament to their shared commitment to uplifting the communities they serve together.

Marietta Georgia Teammates Honored First Responders with a Cookout

Marietta teammates brought the heat, and a lot of heart, to Cobb Fire Station #51 by hosting a special cookout to honor first responders. Greg Green with the Good Deed Team fired up the grill providing hot dogs, burgers, baked beans, and potato salad along with chips and cookies. Dozens of Marietta teammates and leadership members were on hand to help set-up, serve, and clean-up as they welcomed law enforcement officers, EMTs, firefighters and support staff.

This year marked a milestone as local television station FOX 5 attended the event expanding the reach and impact of Northwest’s community efforts. “We’re in the pest business, but we’re really in the people business. It’s important to say thank you to the people who give so much to the communities where we live and work” said Good Deed Team Co-Director, Kristen Milligan.

The first responders expressed heartfelt appreciation for the gesture. For Northwest Exterminating, the cookout was simply a small token of thanks for the sacrifices these heroes make every day.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Northwest teammates, the cookout not only honored our heroes, but it also brought people together in the true spirit of service and appreciation. Northwest has other upcoming First Responder Appreciation Cookouts planned around the Southeast.

In a remarkable show of community spirit and compassion, the Northwest Exterminating Family of Brands has once again proven that kindness can be a powerful force for good. With a workforce of 1,300 dedicated people, teammates completed 3,151 acts of kindness in just 31 days, highlighting their strong commitment to giving back.
Acts of Kindness Day is a company-wide initiative that took place on May 16, 2025. Employees were encouraged to take time during their workday to spread kindness in any form. What makes this initiative even more impressive is the scale and reach achieved by teammates.

On a single day alone, employees rallied to complete 1,649 acts of kindness. These ranged from writing handwritten sympathy and get-well cards to customers, to financially supporting fellow teammates during difficult times, and helping complete strangers in meaningful ways. Teammates also took time to show appreciation for local educators—Cullman, AL and McCall teammates in Gainesville, Fl hosted Teacher Appreciation Luncheons, including a fiesta-themed celebration complete with vibrant décor and festive food to recognize and celebrate teachers for their hard work and dedication.

The Acts of Kindness campaign shows how purpose-driven action, no matter the size of the workforce, can create measurable and meaningful change.

The Acts of Kindness initiative reflects the Northwest Family of Brands’ ongoing dedication to fostering a culture that values people and prioritizes positive impact both inside and outside the workplace.

Smyrna Georgia Teammates Host First Responder Appreciation Cookout

Northwest Exterminating teammates in Smyrna, GA, hosted a First Responder Cookout on June 12, 2025, at Tolleson Park. More than two dozen police officers, firefighters, and EMT personnel gathered to enjoy a delicious meal of burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and baked beans.

The event provided a meaningful opportunity for teammates to connect with the first responders who serve and protect the community every day. Smyrna teammates worked in shifts to ensure customer needs were met while also supporting the cookout—helping with setup, serving, and cleanup. By the end of the event, everyone left with full bellies and big smiles.

Good Deed Team

For some officers, this was their first experience attending a Northwest First Responder Cookout; for others, it was one of many. When asked what made this one stand out, Major Louis Defense III with the Smyrna Police Department shared, “This cookout is definitely a display of what it means to be a community.”

While first responders expressed gratitude for the meal and hospitality, the appreciation went both ways. At Northwest Exterminating, it’s a privilege to recognize and thank those who help keep the communities where we live and work safe.

Northwest Family of Brands’ Teammates Embrace Third Annual Teammate Acts of Kindness Day

Northwest Family of Brands’ Teammates Embrace Third Annual Teammate Acts of Kindness Day

On Friday, May 16, 2025, teammates across the Northwest Family of Brands came together to celebrate the third annual Teammate Acts of Kindness Day, a company-wide initiative focused on making a positive impact both internally and externally. True to the spirit of Northwest, teammates went above and beyond showing compassion to co-workers, customers, strangers, and even animals.

Teammates supported one another in different ways throughout the day! Several bought breakfast or lunch for co-workers, and others surprised administrative professionals with flowers. The Team Support Center departments packed boxes filled with snacks for surrounding service centers! Other teammates found ways to support fellow colleagues facing difficult times, but the kind gestures did not stop internally.

Many customers and the community also felt the impact. Teammates mailed sympathy and get-well cards to families dealing with a loss or sickness, and service professionals went the extra mile by removing trash cans from curbs and picking up litter. Their acts of kindness also extended to animals. One teammate even stepped in to save a turtle from a potentially tragic end by helping it cross the road.

Many strangers experienced the Northwest way of putting people first. Stories surfaced of a teammate buying sandwiches for a woman experiencing homelessness, while others paid for drinks at gas stations or showed patience and courtesy on the road.

If there’s one takeaway from the Teammate Acts of Kindness Day, it’s this: Every one of us has the power to make a difference in big and small ways. All it takes is one kind act to inspire someone else to do the same. We are so thankful to have a team full of servant hearted people!

Tucker Service Center Visits Nesbit Elementary for School Career Day

Tucker Service Center Visits Nesbit Elementary for School Career Day

Our Tucker team had an amazing time at Nesbit Elementary School’s Career Day! It was a joy to introduce students to our Mouse Mascot, who brought plenty of smiles and high-fives as we kicked off a day full of learning and fun. The kids were curious and eager as they got a glimpse into the world of pest control and what an exterminating company does to keep homes and businesses safe and pest-free.

One of the highlights of the day was sharing interesting bug facts that had the students buzzing with excitement. From learning about the incredible strength of ants to discovering how termites work as a team, the kids were fascinated by the tiny creatures that share our world. Our team loved answering questions and encouraging students to think critically about how we can coexist with some of nature’s most misunderstood critters. Who knows? We might have even inspired a future entomologist or pest control expert!

We want to say a huge thank-you to Nesbit Elementary for inviting us to be part of such a special day. It was an honor to connect with your students, share our expertise, and have a little fun along the way. We left Career Day inspired by the curiosity and energy of the youngsters we met, and we can’t wait for the next opportunity to make learning about bugs and pest control so much fun!

Dallas Service Center Extends Support to Rome Police Officer

Dallas Service Center Extends Support to Rome Police Officer

Our Dallas office recently made a heartfelt visit to the Rome Police Department to extend our deepest sympathies to one of their officers and his family following the tragic loss of their son. During this immensely difficult time, our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and their loved ones, as well as the entire department who stands by them with unwavering support and strength.

To show our care and solidarity, we assembled a special care basket and hand-delivered it to the department. It was a small gesture, but one filled with love and compassion, intended to provide a bit of comfort during a moment when words often fall short. The opportunity to connect with the officers and personally deliver the package reinforced our respect for their dedication to each other, as well as their community.

Our hearts go out to the officer, his family, and everyone at the Rome Police Department who feels this loss deeply. Moments like these remind us of the importance of standing together as a community. While no gesture can ease their grief completely, we hope our visit provided a small source of comfort and a reminder that they are surrounded by support and care.
