It’s incredible how our community partners leave a lasting impression on our hearts. The Northwest LaGrange team supported the “Build a Bunk” initiative by Sleep in Heavenly Peace in 2019 and were so honored to team up with them yet again to make a difference for the kids in their community.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a non-profit that builds and delivers beds to children in need. By noticing the generosity in other charities when it came to donating clothing, toys, and food, they saw that there was a gap to fill in respect to donated beds and bedding. Their belief is that “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”
Our LaGrange teammates reached out to see if they needed any help and were informed that every Thursday people meet and deliver bunks to the children. They helped with delivering the beds from storage units to homes and helped put together the bedding. It was a full circle moment to have the opportunity to assist with delivery when a couple of years ago the team supported the construction.
Our teammates enjoyed lending a helping hand and having the opportunity to continue to support an organization that truly looks for ways to serve daily. We look forward to participating more in the future. If you would like to help Sleep in Heavenly Peace, you can search for a branch near you and learn how to volunteer at https://www.shpbeds.org/.

Our Northwest Good Deed Team has partnerships with many schools across the states that we serve. Recently, our Hixson office expanded this by partnering with Alpine Crest Elementary School for a water drive.
COVID-19 has affected schools on many different levels. At Alpine Crest Elementary, COVID forced them to turn off their water fountains to help stop the spread. This has forced the students to bring bottled water, which most forget about or lose throughout the day. When we heard about this, we jumped at the opportunity to support them. We were able to collect 56 cases of water to donate.
We are so grateful for our Hixson office coming together to support a local elementary school and collect these cases of water. We know that any help for schools is always welcomed and removes one task from the never-ending to-do list of the administration and teachers. Our teammates enjoyed the opportunity to serve and help in even a small way.
Thank you to our Hixson team for finding opportunities to serve where you have passion!

Supporting and showing appreciation to first responders is important to our Northwest Teammates. Every year, the Northwest Good Deed Team hosts First Responder Cookouts as a small way to say thank you to our community’s first responders across all five of the states we serve. Partnering with local organizations who also want to celebrate these men and women is something we enjoy and are grateful to do.
Recently, our Good Deeds Team partnered with the Alabama Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) to help host their 3rd Quarter Serve Event. Together, we were able to serve lunch to close to 150 of our very own local heroes from the Hoover Fire Department and Police Department. Also, with generous donation, we were able to give our door prizes totaling over $3,000!
CAI Alabama is the state’s voice for homeowner and condominium associations. Their mission is to build better communities in Alabama with the goal and purpose to provide information, education, and resources to their members. They partner with many local businesses to host events throughout the year like their First Responders Appreciation Luncheon.
Our team was grateful to take part in this event and for the opportunity to show appreciation to our first responders and everything they do for our communities. The team is looking forward to the next Serve Event.
If you would like to get involved with CAI Alabama, please visit their website and see how you can help!

With the beginning of every new school year, school supply needs go out for every classroom. At Northwest, our teammates enjoy partnering with local schools any way we can. Our teachers are true superheroes, and the start of any school year is typically some of their busiest times. This is why our Dallas team came together to donate supplies to Dallas Elementary School.
The Dallas team reached out to the assistant principal to learn what items students needed the most. After learning that earbuds for students were in need, they collected 56 pairs to donate!
We know that any help for these teachers means a lot. Our teammates enjoyed the opportunity to serve their local elementary school and look forward to partnering with them again in the future. Thank you to our Dallas team for finding opportunities to serve where you have passion!

Supporting and showing appreciation to our Servicemen and women is extremely important to our Northwest Teammates. This past year, through a personal connection and drive to give back to her community, one of our Northwest Teammates, Sydney C., managed to create an ongoing partnership between Northwest and the Dobbins Air Force Base.
Throughout COVID-19 restrictions, Dobbins Air Force Base housed servicemen and women for a required 20-day quarantine. Once Sydney heard of the 20-day quarantine, with new quarantined members stationed each month, she immediately began to look for ways to give back.
Sydney, along with her Northwest Teammates and The Good Deed Team originally collected entertainment games and consoles, snacks, and personal hygiene items to donate to the quarantined men and women at the Base as a way to say thank you and offer a source of fun relief. After realizing there would be new service people there monthly, the team put together ‘Care Bags’ each month following December 2020. These bags contained everything from snacks, personal hygiene items, fun games, and more to occupy them during their time at Dobbins.
The heart of this project, Sydney, has showcased the true definition of what it is to have a Servant’s Heart. Her dedication to giving back and supporting her community led her husband, Chris, to secretly submit her for the 2020 Spouse of the Year by Dobbins! Unanimously chosen for the award by the panelists, she was surprised with a small ceremony in April.
Northwest could not be more grateful for teammates like Sydney; she kept her eyes open for ways to serve and appreciate others, letting the GDT know about the opportunity so that we could work together to bring this idea to life. Through this small act of kindness created an opportunity to continue the ‘Care Bag’ donations until mid-2021 and create an ongoing partnership with Dobbins Air Force Base going forward!
