Finding positive ways to make an impact and support our communities can come in unexpected ways at times. Every teammate at Northwest Exterminating is a member of the Good Deed Team and approaches each day with a servant’s heart. Sometimes, one service center or department’s efforts further helps another initiative the GDT is already assisting with, leading to an even better opportunity make a difference.
The Northwest IT Director, Matt, shared two gift cards with the GDT Leaders, Kristen and Greg, that the IT department received for recent system upgrades. Though they could have used the gift cards for other equipment, Matt and his team knew the gift cards could be better used to help through the Good Deed Team. Kristen and Greg utilized these gift cards to purchase diapers for a local school partner, purchasing over 600 diapers to donate. The diapers did not only go to the school families but to all families around that community who needed them!
Behind the scenes, the IT team has also been donating gently used IPADs to the Good Deed Team to be gifted to local school partners who mention the need. With school assignments being completed online, some families were having to utilize phones without a computer in the home. Once the donated devices were wiped clean, kids were able to complete their needed work on their very own device.
“One thing that I love about Northwest Exterminating is that everyone is part of the Good Deed Team. It’s not just a few people,” said Kristen, Co-Director of the Good Deed Team. “It’s a true testament to our Good Deed Mission of serving the community so that everyone will see the heart of Northwest.”
The Good Deed Team has continued to pour time and donations into our school partnerships as they knew the recent impact of COVID-19 resulted in a lot of changes not just for the students and families but also for the administration and teachers. They plan to continue to help the local community schools in any way they can while maintaining CDC guidelines.
We are very grateful for a team that works together to create positive impacts in our communities. Thank you to the Northwest IT Department and Good Deed Team for putting people first.

The Newnan Good Deed Team has a love for animals! They have been partnering with the Newnan Coweta Humane Society throughout 2020. The team came up with a fun idea to raise money for NCHS – to raise money to donate, whoever was able to give or raise the largest donation could pie a Manager in the face. Our Newnan team sure knows how to have fun!
The fundraising began in March, but due to COVID-19, the team is unable to be together to pie a Manager at the moment. That did not stop the Newnan team! They have continued to raise money and donations, along with some teammates donating toys, to deliver to the NCHS team in May.
Angela, the GDT Ambassador for Newnan, delivered the funds and toys raised to NCHS. Angela believes the timing could not have been better since it is cat season, so the donation will help cover an adoption fee, formula for kittens, or other needs. “We have been so blessed to help such a great organization and watch the amazing things they do on a daily basis. It has been an honor becoming a part of their team and help in areas that we are able,” said Angela.
The Newnan team is still looking forward to being able to pie a Manager once social distancing restrictions have been safely lifted. The rest of the Northwest Family cannot wait to see those photos! In the meantime, the Newnan GDT is going to continue to support the NCHS and their other community organizations any way they’re able while maintaining CDC guidelines.

As March kicked off, no one quite expected the changes that would occur throughout the month. With home schooling, people working from home, business policy changes, and everyone practicing social distancing, it has been a strange and unprecedented time for most. Our Good Deed Team leaders, Kristen and Greg, wanted to honor the space and changes necessary while remaining involved within the communities we serve.
When the news first broke that students would be completing classes from home, Greg and Kristen worked together with a local elementary school team to put together and hand out food items to around 100 families. Knowing that for many kids, their main meals come from school, made this an important opportunity for the Good Deed Team to help! Greg returned the following week to put together andgive out over 150 bags of food and toiletry items to the families.
Looking for more ways to help students and families during this time, Greg and Kristen were able to make over 50 gallons of laundry detergent to donate to other local elementary schools in the communities we serve! Along with the detergent, they donated books, coloring books, crayons, and Easter treats for the kids to enjoy. All the items were dropped off to be distributed to the families.
It is truly extraordinary to see people in our communities stepping up to help each other – from businesses to non-profits to individuals on their own, seeing everyone come together during a difficult time shows how much everyone cares. We are thankful for Kristen and Greg finding ways to help and small ways to make a difference, even from a distance!
It is important to note that the Good Deed Team reached out to these schools ahead of time to coordinate how best to help during these circumstances. If you are wanting to volunteer or donate, please reach out to the school or business beforehand to make sure that all necessary precautions are taken!
Mar 10, 2020 | Company News, Good Deed Team, Teammate Celebration
The year of 2020 is full steam ahead, and the first three months have already been incredible for Northwest and the Northwest Good Deed Team! As we plan for all 2020 has in store, we wanted to take a moment to look back on all we had the opportunity to be a part of in 2019, all the people and the organizations that we were able to work with to help make a difference.

Each year, the Good Deed Team hosts First Responder Cookouts throughout the communities that we live and work in, and 2019 was no different. We held 25 Cookouts and were able to feed over 9,000 people through it all. The most rewarding thing about the Cookouts is connecting with the first responders in our communities who go above and beyond for each of us every day. It’s those connections that have allowed us the opportunity to cookout for the upcoming Metro-Atlanta Firefighters Conference, which host firemen from all over the state. Our team couldn’t be more thrilled to serve these men and women lunch as they train to better protect their communities!

Another focus of the Good Deed Team each year is our local schools. In 2019, we were able to host 10 Bilingual Family Literacy Program events and 18 career days, donate 250 school backpacks, and gift 1,700 books. Supporting local schools has always been an important focus for the team because we believe that every child deserves a positive school experience! Whether it’s helping with a Mystery Reader program or an upcoming field trip, creating an experience that the kids can enjoy and will remember is truly amazing and something we plan to continue.

With every teammate’s passion and interest different, we get to help in a wide array of categories! From collecting items to donate to local shelters to building bunk beds for organizations that give them back to those in need, each year brings something new for the Good Deed Team to dive into. In 2019, we were able to volunteer with 3 Children’s Hospitals, in Savannah, Macon, and Augusta, to help bring a bit of joy and fun during a few holidays for the kids currently being treated. Volunteering with the local Children’s Hospitals is something we’re hopeful to continue in 2020 and beyond, with our Savannah office looking forward to celebrating many holidays to come with the children.

What started as a small mission to create a positive impact in the communities that we live and work in has grown to what the Good Deed Team is today: a team full of people working together, consistently looking outward into their communities to see where they can best help or serve those around them. Looking back, 2019 was an incredible year for us to focus on the people and organizations that mean so much to the teammates of Northwest. We know that 2020 is just another chance for us to serve more, help better, and bring even more opportunities for our teammates to make a difference.

If you know of an opportunity where the Good Deed Team could lend their time or helping hands, please reach out to us at [email protected].

For the 8thconsecutive year, Northwest Exterminating has been honored as one of the best places to work by the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Top Workplaces survey. The list is based solely on teammate feedback from nearly 3,000 companies and over 40,000 teammates that is gathered from a third-party that partners with the AJC. The Northwest team is always thrilled to learn that we have made the Top Workplaces list each year, as every teammate takes great pride in our overall culture!
With our teammates’ feedback, Northwest came in at number 27 in the midsize company category. “Without each of the extraordinary teammates that believe in and work with Northwest daily, we wouldn’t be the company we are today! I’m thankful we have a team that works hard, cares about our customers, and enjoys not only working together but also serving our communities together. It’s an honor to be on the Top Workplaces list once again,” said Stanford Phillips, Co-President of Northwest Exterminating.
The Northwest culture is focused on fun, living and working by the Northwest Way, and supporting our team and communities. Through our culture, we strive to live up to our mission of being “an extraordinary company creating extraordinary experiences,” which applies not only externally to the level of service and care we aim to provide our customers, but also internally by honoring our teammates.
We plan to continue to build on our family-like atmosphere as we continue to grow throughout the Southeast to better serve our customers. We are grateful to be chosen, once again, as a Top Workplace in Atlanta. If you’re interested in working and growing with the Mouse, explore our Career Opportunities!

Our Newnan team is off to an incredible start in 2020! Looking inward to the team’s interests and passions has allowed them to see new opportunities to help their communities.
One goal the team has for the year is to volunteer with the local animal shelter and humane society more often. Some of the teammates spent their Sunday at the NCHS Orientation learning about the organization’s mission and how they can help serve the animals and adoptive families throughout the year. The team will be attending dog training in March, and they’re looking forward to helping with adoption days, clean up, and caring for the animals.
The team has also continued their focus on helping local organizations and bringing smiles to those in their community. They spent a few hours one Saturday sorting through donations at the Coweta Pregnancy Service, a local organization that supports women and families in the area. They also stopped by the Ansley Park Health and Rehabilitation Center to spend some time with the residents and wish them a happy Valentine’s Day! “One resident’s card had a typewriter on the front and that reminded him of one his dad used to have! He said we couldn’t understand how much that meant to him, and the great memories it brought back. This event not only touched the hearts of the residents but our team as well,” said Good Deed Team Ambassador, Angela C.
It truly has been an extraordinary February for the teammates of our Newnan office. They are a great example of a team that wants to Make a Difference in all they do. It is incredible to see teammates not only enjoy working together but also serving the community together. We are excited to see the upcoming projects and volunteering the Newnan team is up to next.

We are proud to announce our 2019 Northwest Good Deed Ambassador of the Year, Brittney Bonsignore. Since joining the Northwest team, Brittney has not only embraced the Northwest Way, but she has applied action to it and made a tremendous impact on her Northwest teammates and surrounding community.
With laser focus, a servant’s heart, and a people-first mentality, Brittney has rallied her Newnan teammates for several Good Deed events in the Newnan area. She fostered countless relationships with organizations, like Bridging the Gap, and elementary schools, and she has increased outreach to Northwest customers. With her leadership, Newnan started a Customer Appreciation day that supports Northwest customers that may have fallen on hard times.
Brittney has continuously shared innovative, fresh ideas with her fellow Good Deed ambassadors, all while quietly leading with humility and kindness. One interaction with her and you are left knowing that she is filled with kindness, respect, and grace. We are grateful to have such an extraordinary teammate on our team who not only has an amazing heart for people but also inspires us each to aim higher every day.
Nov 1, 2019 | Good Deed Team, Teammate Celebration
Beginning in mid-September, Northwest teammates from every service center collected candy for the Good Deed Halloween Candy Drive!
This year’s goal behind the candy drive was to collect enough candy to distribute to local Title I schools in our team’s respective communities. The Good Deed Team is always looking for opportunities to strengthen their relationship and be involved with schools in the community.
Though the Northwest team collects candy every year, this year’s Candy Drive became a much bigger initiative than expected. In addition to donating candy, some of our teams participated in Trunk or Treats at local schools. Some teammates even took on hosting their own local trunk or treat!
Despite the weather being less than desirable, our teammates continued to move forward to create memorable experiences for the children in the communities that we serve. We are inspired by our teammates’ creativity and make a difference attitude that they bring to every initiative and how much fun they had bringing everything together. We’re excited about what ideas will come up next year!

The teammates of the Savannah office have built a relationship with the children, families, and staff of the Dwayne and Cynthia Willetts Children’s Hospital in Savannah, GA. Whether it is holiday decorations or summer game days, the Savannah team enjoys spending time and bringing smiles to the patients and families whenever possible.
This year, the Savannah team stopped by the hospital on October 31st to help brighten the day with fun, costumes, and candy! Though the children may not be able to go trick or treating, the team thought, “Why not bring trick or treating to them?” The Savannah team, along with Rodney and Nicole Rawls, joined others at the Hospital with a wagon of candy and big smiles to visit with the families and children.
“We wanted to bring the trick or treating to them,” said Missy M., Northwest Builder Relations Specialist. “Seeing the children smile with grins as big as Texas is the best! I am so glad we get to volunteer with the hospital.”
The Savannah team will begin collecting holiday decorations to decorate the children’s rooms this December over the next month, and they are always looking for other ways to get involved in other ways. The Northwest team is inspired by our Savannah teammates’ leadership, make a difference attitudes, and how much they care for others.
