Identification

• Dark colored
• 1/8 inch
• Single node hidden beneath the abdomen
• Strong, rotten coconut smell when crushed

Environment

• Can exist in very large numbers where there is plenty of moisture
• Will form trails similar to those of Argentine ants

Threats

• One of the most difficult pests to eliminate from a structure
• Will often establish in earth-filled porches and block walls

Treatment

• Granular bait applications to the perimeter of the structure
• Gel baits inside and in exterior stations
• Perimeter sprays with non-repellent products
