Coral Snakes
Identification

Medium sized (1.5-2.5 feet long)

Brightly colored, red, yellow, and black (remember the saying “red on yellow, kill a fellow, red on black, you’re alright, Jack.”)

If threatened, the tail is lifted up and the tip is curled over
Environment

Found in pine and scrub sandhill habitats

May be found in hardwood forests and pine flatwoods that flood

May be found in suburban areas

Found through much of the southern coastal plain (most common in Florida)

Spend the majority of their time underground
