You may encounter silverfish when you are moving in or out of a home.
Identification

Silverfish are slender in size
-
About 1/2 inch long
-
2 long antennae on the head and 3 long cerci at the rear
Environment
-
Silverfish are fast moving insects
-
Generally associated with paper or cardboard

Usually found when books and other materials are packed up for moving

Eat glue from the binding of books and within the corrugation of cardboard
-
Reproduce in or near moist, damp areas such as a basement or in proximity to a bathroom or shower
-
Females lay up to 3 eggs per day
-
Populations grow quickly and consist of many immature nymphs

Prefer damp, musty areas

Treatment
- Dusts within wall voids and likely breeding sites
