King Snakes

Identification

• Large snake (3-4 feet long)

• Shiny black color with white or yellow bands

• Short, blunt snout and rectangular looking head

Environment

• Found in protected areas such as woods, overgrown vegetation, cluttered areas, etc.

• Found throughout the southeast

• May bite if handled (non-venomous)

• Keep food sources away from the home

• Limit clutter and stored wood near the home

• Preventative treatment with a product that snakes find repellent
